Terms of Use
Last updated: October 4, 2026
The short version. Quran Pages is free forever, with no ads, ever. Your progress is yours and stays on your device. The app helps you practise. It does not replace a teacher or a scholar. Prayer times and the qibla are worked out by the app, so check them against your mosque. The Quran text, the translations, the fonts and the recordings belong to the people who made them. The app is given as it is, without promises.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Blue Tomato Studio LLC (“we”, “us”), the company that makes the Quran Pages app (“the app”, until version 3.0 called Hifz Quran). They cover the app for iPhone and iPad, the app for Android, their widgets, and this website. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Your licence
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence, which we can withdraw, to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use.
- If you got the app from Apple’s App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement and the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms also apply. Section 15 below has more.
- If you got the app from Google Play, Google Play’s terms of service also apply. Section 16 below has more.
You may not copy, sell, rent, lend, sublicense, reverse-engineer or modify the app, or take content out of it, except where the law allows it.
2. Price
Quran Pages is free, and it will stay free. It has no ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases, and no account to make, and we will not add any of them.
3. Your progress is yours
Your reading place, your settings and your repeat history are your content. We do not own it and we cannot see it. It is stored only on your device, so keeping a backup is up to you (for example, your phone’s own backup). We are not responsible if it is lost when you delete the app, reset your device or lose it.
4. The app does not replace a teacher
Quran Pages is a tool to help you practise. It is not a replacement for learning from a qualified teacher (an ustadh or a shaykh). The app does not listen to you and cannot check your recitation, your tajweed or your makharij. Ask a teacher to check your hifz and your recitation.
5. Religious content
- The Quran text and the mushaf pages come from the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex and the Quranic Universal Library. We take great care that they match the printed mushaf. If you ever find a difference, please email us straight away, and check against a printed mushaf.
- Translations, word meanings and tafsir are the work of their translators and scholars. A translation is not the Quran itself, and a short tafsir is not a full explanation.
- Duas are shown with their sources, so you can check them.
- Nothing in the app is a fatwa or a religious ruling. For any question of religious practice, ask a qualified scholar.
6. Prayer times, the qibla, dates and alarms
- Prayer times are worked out on your device from the place you chose and the method in Settings. Methods differ, and your mosque may use another one or add minutes. The times are a guide. Check them against your local mosque, especially for fasting and for Fajr and Isha.
- The qibla direction depends on your place and on your device’s compass, which metal, magnets and other devices can disturb. Check it another way when it matters.
- The Hijri date is worked out, not seen. It can be a day off from the date announced where you live, which follows the sighting of the moon.
- Alerts, the adhan and alarms depend on your device. Silent mode, Focus, battery saving, a low battery, a restart, the system’s settings or a fault can stop one from sounding or make it late. Do not rely on the app alone for a prayer you must not miss.
We are not responsible for a prayer, a fast or any other act of worship that is missed, early or late because of a time, a direction, a date or an alert shown by the app.
7. Other people’s services and content
Some parts of the app come from others: recitations from everyayah.com, duas read aloud from hisnmuslim.com, the name of your town from Apple Maps or the phone’s own place-name service, and the store’s rating card. We do not control these services. They may change, slow down or stop at any time, and their own terms apply to them. Links in the app or on this website go to sites we do not control. The Quran text, page layouts, fonts, translations, tafsir, word meanings, city list and recordings belong to their owners and are used under their own terms. Nothing in these Terms gives you a right to copy, share, sell or change them. They are all credited in the app’s Settings and on this website.
8. Using the app well
Use Quran Pages lawfully and for your own study. Do not use it to break the law or to harm anyone, and do not try to break into, overload or interfere with the app. Do not use it in a way that is unsafe for you or for others, such as reading the screen while you drive. Please treat the Quran text in it with the respect it is due.
9. Our names and our work
The app, its design, its pictures and its code belong to us or to the people who license them to us. The names Quran Pages and Hifz Quran and the rosette are ours. Apple, iPhone, iPad and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc. Android and Google Play are trademarks of Google LLC. Other names belong to their owners. Their use here does not mean they support or are connected to the app.
10. The app is given “as is”
We work hard to make Quran Pages correct and reliable, but, to the fullest extent the law allows, the app and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. That includes any warranty that they are fit for a particular purpose, accurate, complete, free of errors or always available. We do not promise that the app will meet your needs, or that any fault will be fixed.
11. Limits on our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss or damage, or for loss of data, arising from the app or this website or from your use of them, even if we were told it could happen. Where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app, which is zero, or, if a law sets a higher minimum, to that minimum.
Some countries do not allow some of these limits. In those places they apply only as far as the law allows. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that the law does not let us limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
12. If someone makes a claim because of your use
As far as the law allows, you agree to cover us for any claim, loss or cost (including reasonable legal costs) brought by someone else because you broke these Terms or the law while using the app. This does not apply where you are a consumer and the law where you live does not allow it.
13. Changes, and ending
We may change, pause or stop the app, or any part of it, at any time. We may update these Terms. If we make an important change, we will change the date at the top and post the new version here. If you keep using the app after that, the new Terms apply. You can stop at any time by deleting the app. Your licence ends automatically if you break these Terms. Sections 3 to 12 and 17 still apply after it ends.
14. The law, and disputes
Before taking any formal step, please email us so we can try to put things right.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its rules on conflicts of law. Any dispute that is not settled by email will be heard in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction.
If you live outside the United States, you keep the protection of the laws of your own country that cannot be set aside by agreement, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where those laws allow it. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
15. Apple’s terms
If you got the app from Apple’s App Store:
- This agreement is between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Scope. Your licence is to use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions allow.
- Support. We, not Apple, are responsible for supporting the app. Apple has no duty to provide any support for it.
- Warranty. If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple may refund the price you paid (if any). To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty duty for the app, and any other claim, loss or cost from such a failure is ours, not Apple’s.
- Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for any claim about the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- Intellectual property. If someone claims the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for dealing with that claim.
- Legal compliance. You confirm that you are not in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that the U.S. Government has named as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Other terms. You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile data plan.
- Apple as a third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right, and is taken to have accepted the right, to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
16. Google’s terms
If you got the app from Google Play, this agreement is between you and us, not Google. Google is not responsible for the app, its content or its support. Google Play’s own terms apply to your use of Google Play.
17. General
If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part straight away, we have not given it up. These Terms, with the privacy policy and the store terms named above, are the whole agreement between you and us about the app. You may not transfer your rights under them. We may transfer ours to someone who takes over the app, as long as your rights are not reduced.
