Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

The short version. Quran Pages collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no servers of ours. Your progress stays on your phone or iPad and we never see it. The app asks for no permission until you turn on a feature that needs one, and each one is optional: location for prayer times and the qibla, notifications for prayer alerts, and alarms so an adhan comes on time or wakes you. Under Apple's definitions this app is "Data Not Collected."

This policy explains what Quran Pages ("the app", until version 3.0 called Hifz Quran) does with your information. Quran Pages is made by Blue Tomato Studio LLC ("we", "us"), which is responsible for your information under this policy (the "data controller", in the words of European law). If anything here is unclear, email contact@bluetomatostudio.com.

What changed in this version. On iPad and iPhone Duo you can now write on the page with the pen, so this policy now lists your writing among the things the app keeps on your device. Like the rest, it is never sent anywhere. The app still has no microphone access and no speech recognition, still has no accounts, and still keeps everything on your device.

1. Who this applies to

This policy covers the Quran Pages app for iPhone and iPad and its widgets, the Quran Pages app for Android and its widgets, and this website, quranpages.org (it used to be hifzquran.org, which still brings you here). "The app" means all of them unless a line says otherwise.

2. Information we collect

Personal information we collect: none. Quran Pages has no login, no user accounts, and no server of ours that stores your data. We do not run analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or any tracking. The iPhone and iPad app contains no code from other companies (no third-party SDKs). The Android app is built with common free, open-source building blocks for the screen, storage and audio playback, and Google Play's own library for the rating card described in section 6. None of them is analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking.

The app creates and stores the following on your device so it can work:

This data stays in the app's private storage on your device. Deleting the app removes it.

3. Permissions, all optional

Quran Pages never asks for a permission when it opens. It asks only when you turn on a feature that needs one. If you say no, the rest of the app works as before.

Android also gives the app some permissions when it is installed, without asking: to use the internet, to keep playing a recitation with the screen locked, to vibrate, to show a prayer alarm on the screen where Android allows it, and to set the prayer alarms again after the phone restarts. None of these gives the app anything of yours.

The motion sensor, with no permission. From version 4.0 the gold in the app catches the light as you move your phone. To do this, the app reads how the phone is tilted, on the device, while a painted screen is showing. It keeps nothing and sends nothing, and it needs no permission. On iPhone and iPad it stops with Reduce Motion on or in Low Power Mode.

The app does not use, and cannot use, the microphone, speech recognition, the camera, photos, contacts or calendars. Your recitation is never heard, recorded, transcribed or stored, by us or by anyone else.

The iPhone and iPad app declares iOS's background audio mode, and the Android app runs a media playback service. That is ordinary playback, so a repeat keeps playing with your screen locked. It carries no access to anything on your device.

4. Where your progress is kept

Everything the app stores stays on your device, in the app's own private storage. Quran Pages does not copy your progress to your other devices, does not use iCloud, and does not send it anywhere. Your phone and your iPad each keep their own. There is no account attached to it and nothing for us to look at. Deleting the app deletes it. Your device's own backup, if you have turned it on, can include the app's data, as it does for other apps: iCloud or your computer for an iPhone or iPad, and your Google account for an Android phone.

5. Network access

The Quran text, the mushaf pages, the fonts, the translations, the word meanings, the tafsir, the duas, the city list and the adhan recordings are all inside the app and need no network. The app uses the internet for three things:

The recordings are public files. The requests for them carry no account and none of your progress, and the hosts are not ours. Like any request on the internet, they show the host your internet address. A recording is saved on your device after the first play.

If you tap a link in the app, such as one of the sources in Settings or this policy, the page opens like any web page. Prayer times, the Hijri date and the qibla direction are calculated on the device.

6. No advertising, analytics, or tracking

Quran Pages contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking software of any kind. We do not build a profile of you and do not track you across other apps or websites. Under Apple's definitions, Quran Pages is "Data Not Collected," and the App Store privacy label says exactly that.

The store's rating card. Once you have finished three repeats, the app may ask the store to show its own rating card, at most once for each version of the app: Apple's on iPhone and iPad, and Google Play's on Android. The store decides whether to show it. If you rate the app there, the rating goes to the store like any other rating. The app is not told whether you rated it.

7. Purchases

Quran Pages is free and will stay free. There is nothing to buy in it, so we never see any card or billing details.

8. This website

This site is a simple set of static pages. It uses no advertising or tracking cookies and does not ask you to sign in. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, and GitHub may keep server logs, including your internet address, to keep the site running and secure. The fonts and pictures are on the site itself, so a visit makes no requests to anyone else. On the home page, the gold in the paintings catches the light as you move your mouse or your phone. That happens in your browser, and nothing is sent. Because neither the site nor the app tracks you, both treat everyone the same whether or not your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal.

If you email us

If you email us, we get your email address and what you write. We use it only to reply to you and to fix the problem you tell us about. That is the lawful basis for it: you asked us to help. We keep the message while we are helping you and for a reasonable time after, and we delete it sooner if you ask. We never add you to a mailing list and never pass your email to anyone else. Our email is handled by our email provider, which stores it for us.

9. Children

Quran Pages is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Because the app has no accounts and collects no personal data, there is nothing for a child to submit to us. If a child emails us, we use the message only to reply, and we delete it if a parent asks. If you have a concern, email us and we will help.

10. Your choices and rights

Because your data lives on your device, you are in control of it. You can delete the saved recordings in the app's Settings, and turn any alert, alarm or location use off again. Deleting the app removes its data from your device.

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the UK, and the CCPA in California, give you rights over personal data: to see it, to correct it, to have it deleted, to take a copy, and to object to how it is used. We do not hold any data from the app, so for the app these rights are already in your hands. For an email you sent us, write to us and we will do what you ask within one month. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.

We do not sell or share your personal information, as those words are used in California law, and we never have.

11. Security

Your data is stored in the app's protected storage on your device and is covered by your device's own security, such as your passcode and encryption. No method of storage is perfect, but because nothing about you comes to us, there is very little for anyone else to reach.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will change the date at the top and post the new version here. Important changes will be noted at the top of this page. We will never start collecting data from the app without saying so here first.

13. Contact

Questions about privacy? Email contact@bluetomatostudio.com.

Your recitation is between you and your Lord. Nothing here records it.
