What you need
- An iPhone or iPad running iOS 17 or later, or an Android phone running Android 8.0 or later.
- No permission to start. Location, alerts and alarms are your choice, and the app asks only when you turn one on.
- An internet connection the first time you play each recitation. After that it is saved on your phone or iPad and plays with no internet.
- Space. The app is large, over 300 MB once installed, so install it over Wi-Fi.
Common questions
Is this the Hifz Quran app?
Yes. Quran Pages used to be called Hifz Quran. It is the same app. If you had Hifz Quran, it updated to Quran Pages and kept your place, your settings and your saved recitations.
Is there an Android version?
Yes. Quran Pages is on Google Play. It is the same app as on iPhone and iPad: the same mushaf, the same repeat, the same prayer times. It needs Android 8.0 or later.
How do I repeat an ayah?
Open a surah and tap an ayah on the page. To play more than one, tap the first and the last. The bar at the bottom then says what you have chosen: tap Repeat and it starts playing. The sliders button beside it is where you change how many times each ayah plays, how long a pause to leave so you can recite, and which reciter. With nothing chosen, the same bar shows Listen, which plays from the page you are on to the end of the surah.
How do I get prayer times for my city?
The Salah tab asks where you are praying. Choose a city by name from the built-in list, which needs no permission, or tap Use my location and allow location once. The times, the Hijri date and the qibla direction are then worked out on your phone or iPad.
My mosque's times are different
The app works out the times from your city and the method most people use in that city's country. Mosques use different methods, and some add a few minutes. Open Settings in the app and tap Salah times. Under Method, choose the one your mosque uses. Under Adjust times, you can move a prayer by a few minutes. If the times still differ, follow your mosque.
The widget shows the wrong times
The widgets read the city from the app. Until you choose one, a widget shows Quran Pages where the city's name goes, and its times may not be right for you. Open Quran Pages, go to the Salah tab and choose a city. The widgets follow it after that.
The adhan or the alert did not sound
Each prayer has its own switch for an alert or an adhan in the app. Turn it on, and allow notifications when asked. If your phone is on silent or in a Focus, a normal notification stays quiet. For a prayer that must wake you, turn on Wake me for that prayer. It rings like an alarm, even on silent or in a Focus, and it asks for its own permission. Wake me needs iOS 26.1 or later.
Do I need the internet?
Only for recordings. The mushaf, the Quran text, the translations, the word meanings, the tafsir and the duas are inside the app and work with no internet from the start. The internet is used to fetch a recitation, or a dua read aloud, the first time you play it. After that it is saved on your phone or iPad. You can also save any surah, or all 114, ahead of time: open Settings, then Saved recitations.
What is new in 4.0?
The whole app is painted in gold and blue, like old handwritten Qurans. Every surah has its own painting, and the gold catches the light as you move your phone. Al-Fatihah and Al-Baqarah open with painted pages. Every page has gold verse marks, painted surah headings, and a gold medallion in the margin where a juz begins. The Indopak pages are painted in the style of the old Qurans of India. The qibla is an astrolabe, and there is a new icon.
Also new: search for any ayah, prayer times by your country's usual method, and a choice of Light or Dark. The words of the Quran and the page layouts are the same as before.
Can I search for an ayah?
Yes. Use the search box at the top of the Quran tab (if you do not see it, pull the list down). Type a surah and a number, like Baqarah 255 or 2:255. You can also type a juz or a page.
Why does the gold move?
In 4.0 the gold catches the light as you move your phone, like gold on a real page. The app reads only how the phone is tilted to do this. It keeps nothing and sends nothing. On iPhone and iPad, the gold stays still with Reduce Motion on or in Low Power Mode.
The app no longer turns dark at Maghrib
In 4.0 the app is Light or Dark, as you choose, and it no longer changes with the time of day. Light is paper and gold. Dark is deep blue and gold. To change it, open Settings in the app.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Quran Pages is free forever, and it will never show an ad. There is no subscription, nothing to buy, and no account to make.
Which reciters are included?
31. Every one is recorded ayah by ayah, so a repeat always starts and stops on the ayah. Among them: Mishary Alafasy, Mahmoud Al-Husary, Mohamed El-Minshawi, Abdul Basit, Abdul Rahman As-Sudais, Saud Ash-Shuraim, Saad Al-Ghamdi, Maher Al-Muaiqly and Yasser Ad-Dosari. The full list is in the app.
Where do I find the tafsir?
In the ayah view, tap Tafsir under an ayah. On the mushaf page, tap the ayah, then tap its name in the bar at the bottom. On iPad and the open iPhone Duo, Meaning opens the translation and the tafsir beside the page. It is a short explanation of what the ayah means, in 9 languages: Arabic, English, Bengali, Urdu, French, Spanish, Indonesian, Turkish and Russian. It is inside the app, so it works with no internet. Pick which one you read under View.
Which translations are there?
19, in 17 languages: English (three of them), Bengali, Urdu, French, Spanish, Indonesian, Turkish, Russian, Persian, Hindi, Tamil, Malay, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese and Swahili. Press and hold a word in the ayah view to see what it means. Word meanings are in 9 of those languages. Choose the translation and turn word meanings on under View.
Does it work on iPhone Duo?
Yes. Closed, it works like any iPhone. Open it to read two pages side by side, like a printed Quran. Tap the page to show the buttons: the tabs stand down the left edge and the page's own buttons down the right. Tap again to hide them. Your page and the recitation carry on when you open or close the phone.
How do I write on the page?
On iPad, or on iPhone Duo when it is open, tap the page to show the buttons, then tap Pen. Write with Apple Pencil or your finger. The page will not turn while you write. Choose Pen or Highlight and a colour, or Erase to rub out. With Erase chosen, Clear page takes all the writing off the page. Tap Done when you finish.
Your writing stays on its page, on that device only. To read the pages as printed, open View and turn off Show your writing. When you make the letters bigger, your writing is hidden until they are their usual size again.
The screen turned off while I was reading
It should not. While a mushaf page is open, the app keeps the screen awake so you can read to the end of the page without touching it. It goes back to your usual Auto-Lock as soon as you leave the page. In Low Power Mode, iOS can still dim the screen.
Where is my progress kept?
On your phone or iPad, in the app's own storage. It is not sent anywhere and there is no account attached to it. It is not shared between your phone and your iPad. Deleting the app deletes it, so if you are moving to a new device, use a device backup (on your computer or in iCloud) to carry the app and its data across.
The app is large
It is over 300 MB, because the mushaf is built from more than a thousand page fonts rather than pictures of pages, and three prints are included. That is what lets a page stay sharp at any size and match the print line for line. Install over Wi-Fi. Recitations are downloaded separately as you play them. To delete them, open Settings in the app, find Saved recitations under Audio and Salah, and tap Delete.
Is this a replacement for a teacher?
No. Quran Pages helps you practise every day. It does not replace a teacher. Ask your teacher to check your hifz and your tajweed.
